Changes for LABBX 2008

Greetings,

I'm pleased to announce the fourth annual Los Angeles Black Book Expo will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008. This year we will continue to hold our event at the Ahmanson Senior Center in Exposition Park. We also plan to hold the same events such as panel discussions, spoken word, and the children's area. Also, we will continue to pass out water for those who need it in the courtyard and front patio.

However, I would like to state there will be changes made this time around to ensure the LABBX will be a venue you will continue to be a part of not only this year but in the years to come. First, a cleaner and streamlined registration form will be sent to you asking more for information that our committee can use to adequately place our panelists, children's book authors and spoken word artists.

Food will be provided before and during the expo for participating author-exhibitors. Although we will continue our policy of 'first-come, first served', those author-exhibitors who register early will have selection priority for the first hour of set up. Our set-up policy has also been modified to allow a certain number of tables to be handed out as to ease confusion.

We're focusing our efforts to include more young people into our event which is the reason there will be a Young Authors Forum as part of the Children's Literary Zone and the first annual LABBX youth poetry slam as part of our Spoken Worlds program. At the conclusion of the expo, we'll have an after party including live entertainment and a good way for our exhibitors to network with each other.

We will continue our pre-LABBX author reception will be a private affair this time around to allow more networking and good times.

The revamped LABBX website will be up and running beginning January 11, 2008. Please log on to www.labbx.com next week to obtain exhibitor and sponsor forms for the expo.

These are some of the changes we're making for LABBX. More are on the way because we know we can always do better! Thank you for your support and time spent with us. See you at LABBX 2008!
