From the Director's Chair: Updates

A quick update of past events…..

Our LABBX/California Writers Collective writers workshop inside the AC Bilbrew library was a success with new and aspiring authors in attendance. I have to thank Rose Mitchell, Black Resource Center director for allowing me to present the workshop for the fifth straight year. Most of the participants plan to attend the L.A. Black Book Expo in August, as I hope you are too. There are a couple of developments that I would like to share with you as it pertains to the LABBX.

For one, we’re in the midst of updating our website with video from the Barnes and Noble relationship panel, new registration and program forms and sponsorship opportunities. Our address has also changed. You can now send your forms to:

LABBX
c/o Phillis Presley
Expo Committee
P.O. Box 533133
Los Angeles, CA 90053

There’s nothing planned in March, however for the month of April we will return to AC Bilbrew with a spoken word program celebrating National Poetry Month. Time and date still pending.

We’ll also attend the upcoming L.A. Times Festival of Books along with the Black Writers on Tour filming interviews with authors, publishers and poets for Empire Beat Magazine and Mixed Matters.

Off topic, the California Writers Collective will have a major announcement involving a luncheon with Universal Press and Productions in the near future.

There’s a lot going on and I hope you’ll stay connected with all the news regarding LABBX and its partners. More for you next time.

Hi Mr. Chatmon,
I can see you are busy.
I sent an email revision of my work on policing for your feedback a day or so ago. Did you receive it?
