Black Writers on Tour 2009

The fourteenth annual Black Writers on Tour (BWOT) will be held this year as part of the Los Angeles Black Business Expo on May 1-3, 2009.

In years past, the tour has been located in the LAX area, but on this special year, both venues have combined to present the biggest event this year. When you consider the drawing power of the original LABBX averaging 40,000 in attendance and the Black Writers on Tour drawing over 5,000, there is no reason to miss a spectacular venue presenting the best in black owned businesses and literature.

The fine folks from the Business Expo have a lot more in store, and you can check it out for yourself on their website with the exciting activities they have lined up. However, the Black Writers on Tour will showcase exhibitors, writing seminars, a poetry jam competition and more. Some well-known authors have benefited from attending the various workshops at the conference founded by publisher Dr. Rosie Milligan and this year promises more of the same with viable tips on how to promote their books and increase their opportunities in the writing business. By far, the Black Writers on Tour is a literary event that can’t be missed for anyone who dreams of publishing a first book or for a new author to network with veteran scribes who offer advice, share contacts or lend a show of support.

Empire Beat Magazine and North Bay Media Review will once again be on hand to interview exhibitors at the 2009 Black Writers on Tour. We’ll discuss new books that are coming out, authors appearing at the conference for the first time and other folks of interest. If you missed our 2008 interviews, please log on to the Empire Beat Magazine Blip page and catch the up and coming authors at the event.

Please come out for an exciting weekend of business and literature. The Black Writers on Tour and the L.A. Black Business Expo will be held inside the L.A. Convention Center, 1201 S. Figueroa Street (next to Staples Center), Los Angeles, CA 90015. Please check the websites for more information or you may call (323) 750-3592 or email drrosie@aol.com or milliganbooks@sbcglobal.net.

See you at the tour and looking forward to the black book expo in August!
